Recruiter Mike Richards’ practical advice for building visibility, tracking wins and positioning for the next opportunity.

In a talent market marked by hesitation and low turnover at senior levels, nearly 90% of treasury professionals say they’re open to a new role—if the opportunity is right. That’s one of several insights shared in a new NeuGroup Insights video featuring Mike Richards, founder of the Treasury Recruitment Company.

In the video, Mr. Richards says nearly everyone he speaks with is exploring new opportunities—a trend reflected in his firm’s latest biannual Treasury Salary Survey, which polled about 1,500 treasury professionals.

“But the only problem is that it’s a bit of a logjam,” he says. “People aren’t moving around yet,” he adds, partly due to global geopolitical uncertainty.

Tracking wins. While actual job changes remain limited, Mr. Richards says many treasury professionals are also holding back internally—failing to advocate for themselves when it comes to recognition or raises.

One tip he shares in the video comes from a presentation on how to ask for a pay raise without annoying your boss. A treasurer in that session shared her strategy: emailing herself at the end of each week to document what she and her team have achieved.

The bottom line: “You’ve got to measure your achievements,” he says. Whether you’re aiming to move or making the case for more pay where you are—tracking wins is a good place to start.
