Inside a Large-Scale OCIO Transition: Lessons from the Journey

In this case study, a peer will share the experience of outsourcing investment management for a large U.S. retirement program, including defined benefit, defined contribution and retiree benefit assets. The discussion will explore what drove the decision, how the OCIO selection process unfolded, governance considerations, and the lessons learned since implementation. Members will have the opportunity to compare approaches, discuss when an OCIO model makes sense, and examine the tradeoffs between delegation, oversight and fiduciary responsibility.
