This week, NeuGroup for Regional Bank Treasurers celebrates its 20th anniversary with a meeting at Morgan Stanley global headquarters in New York City. Originally called the Bank Treasurers’ Peer Group, it differed from other groups in many ways, primarily in that it flipped the NeuGroup lens to treasury within banks, which is very different from corporate treasury. Treasury is core to the business of banking, where it may be more of a support function for many companies in our other groups. Banking is subject to intense regulation, so these treasurers are more concerned with regulators than rating agencies—which are a driving concern for corporate treasurers.
Providing forums for both corporate and bank treasury differentiates NeuGroup from most of our competitors. It lends a larger scope of treasury knowledge and sets us up to facilitate knowledge exchange for corporations, financial institutions and the businesses in between that have elements of both—like fintech, asset management and financial sponsors. For all these reasons and more, we are excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “BankTs” this week.
