NeuGroup CXO Alyssa McArdle explains how member feedback, execution sprints and a new digital platform are shaping the next phase of the member experience.
For a quarter-century, NeuGroup meetings have provided finance professionals a safe space to have candid conversations. In the latest What's Neu (pronounced "noy") video, Chief Experience Officer Alyssa McArdle tells me how our team is now building on that rock-solid foundation to enable members—between meetings—to turn the validated insights they exchange into desired outcomes. "We want to move beyond just creating great but discrete moments and create more of a throughline, and a continuum," she says. This July, we launched NeuGroup Connect , the new all-in-one platform that puts peer groups, events, research, guides and peer messaging in one place, on desktop and mobile. The new NeuGroup app brings it to members' phones and is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play . Watch the full conversation below, which explains how to log into the Connect platform, introduces our new execution sprint sessions and previews some changes coming in the H2 meeting cycle.
Many of these changes and additions flowed from a recent signal survey designed to elicit what was working well and where members needed more help. One answer stood out: Members didn't always have a clear view of everything available to them across the network. Closing that gap is exactly what Connect is built to do.
The next step is execution sprints: small groups of members addressing a shared challenge, where the goal is to leave with a framework they can put to work and report back on at the next meeting. As Alyssa puts it, the idea is to create "not a think tank, but a do tank."
The same thinking is shaping in-person events, from clustering meetings geographically to cut down on travel to more family-friendly programming this fall, including a spooky-ish October event week in Sleepy Hollow, New York, uniting NeuGroup for Mega-Cap Treasurers and NeuGroup for Life Sciences Treasurers . What ties everything together, Alyssa says, is staying "obsessively" member-first—the ethos behind Unreasonable Hospitality, a book she considers essential reading—just ask her colleagues! "We are in the hospitality business," she says. "We are here to deliver value to our members, to make them feel known, to make them feel understood and to help improve their lives."
We end on two hospitality experiences she still remembers years later: the service during a 24-course meal at the Chicago restaurant Alinea, and a hotel housekeeper in California who turned a tangled phone charger into a touching memory. From grand gestures to tiny details, it’s all about putting clients, customers, members—everyone—in the best position to thrive.
